ASB and Renaissance attend the AREA A Leadership Conference
Our very own ASB Leadership and Renaissance representatives took a trip to Sacramento this week for a leadership
conference. The student leaders took great pride in representing YV at the conference
and getting inspired with new ideas through networking and collaboration. With plenty of activities
through the day, the students were well entertained. From the experiences that the they had, they promise to have a great Homecoming Rally, coming up in just
a few weeks!
Be Aware of Things
That Matter
Warriors! It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! And YV is joining the fight against breast cancer. We are selling Breast Cancer T-Shirts for 10 dollars.
All month long the shirts will be sold, showing that Warriors too want a cure for Breast
Cancer! Contact the treasurer's office to reserve yours today!
Also, the Renaissance class has created a canvas with a giant pink ribbon, which will be hung in front of the school. If you know someone who has had breast cancer or is
currently fighting it, we invite you to put a handprint on the ribbon and show
how you care. Ribbon signing will be Tuesday October 8th after school in the quad.
Stop Bullying at YV
Ygnacio
Valley! It is also Anti-Bullying Month! YV wants to put an end to bullying! If you or someone you know is
being bullied, TELL SOMEBODY. There are people who care all around and want you
to have a good school experience. Did you know nearly 160,000 students in the US skip school because of bullying! Let’s decrease that
number -it starts with us.
Girls Volleyball
takes First Win
Girls Volleyball took home their first win Tuesday against
Mt. Diablo High School. Winning three sets to Mt. Diablo’s
one, both JV and Varsity went home with plenty of skip in their step. The girls refuse to let this be their only win of the season, however. With a few more weeks to the regular season, they look to make themselves known
as a force to reckon with.
Golden Warriors take
home Silvers
On Saturday, the Golden Warrior Marching Band took a trip to
Antioch High School for their first official
band review! Arriving early in the morning so they could get on the route by
ten, they glided through the streets, showing exactly what they were made of.
Afterwards, the band went to In-N-Out to enjoy some burgers and shakes, all the
while getting some face paint on. Almost the entire band was covered in face
paint, screaming at the top of their lungs at awards. The band and Color Guard
took home 2nd place trophies, vowing to win 1st in the
upcoming Columbus Day Parade!
Ed Academy trip to San Francisco
Wednesday, our Education
Academy took a trip to San Francisco, so they could take a tour of San Francisco State University.
They had a chance to drop in on a couple classes, to live like a college student. During the tour, the Ed Academy looked in on a lot of
college activities, seeing what clubs were on campus, and what SFSU was all
about. Afterwards, the students and staff enjoyed a nice pizza meal on the campus.
A great way to end the day.
