Warriors Blazing Through the Winter

Our Band Director, Zach Pattison, in his second year at YV took the Golden Warrior Marching Band to New Orleans for a week of fun, food, and hours and miles of marching!! The band members came back exhausted and happy, with memories that will stay with them forever.

Says our Drum Major, Junior Claire Rader, "(My favorite parts)- The music that was everywhere there was fabulous. I loved walking around and hearing it. Marching was really fun because we got to see a whole different side of the town. And the sights were fantastic. There was always something new to do and look at. I loved it all."

Congratulations to Marching Band on the end of an amazing season, and to Mr. P for creating these memories for our Warriors!

On Tuesday, February 10 several students attended Safer Internet Day on the Facebook campus in Menlo Park. Safer Internet Day is a worldwide event that is held in over 100 countries. California Attorney General Kamala Harris and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg were the keynote speakers, and talked to the students about internet safety and responsibility. Kamala Harris explained, “We have a right to be a voice and stand up for the voiceless. Students were treated to several panels with topics ranging from internet trolling and bullying to using social media to promote advocacy. It was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity for the students involved. They also really enjoyed the unlimited snack room the Facebook employees have access too! The students left with a greater understanding of social media and personal responsibility and several great ideas to use social media to promote social change!
